H 6.75 in. (17 cm) Dm 11.5 in. (29 cm)

A unique vessel with platinum inside made by artist Cristina Salusti. Beginning with a ball of clay, she pinches it into vessels and textures them with stone fragments. After multiple firing it was finally lustered with 22 Carat gold over Platinum . Its volcanic-like outer wall seem almost protective of its precious gold center. The vessel attracts and contains ambient light which gives it a spiritual presence. Cristina Salusti attended both Tufts University and Manhattanville College, where she received her BFA, along with an MFA in Art and Education at Columbia University. Her professional career as a sculptor and ceramist includes numerous exhibitions and awards, among them a Fulbright Fellowship in Italy, a Pollack-Krasner grant, a Macdowell Colony residency, and a residency at the invitational Stone Carving Symposium in Iwate-ken, Japan.
